Fascinating, full of extreme travel to the Aral Sea. Exactly in the middle of the desert, a rocky cliff of the majestic Ustyurt plateau, full of the stupefying aroma of the steppe grasses, rich animal life and nomad stone cemeteries with mysterious signs, divide in half. Present sea, with waves, surf and sandy beach. Salty sea, in which you cannot sink, but you can just lie on the surface. Around Aral is a green flowering steppe full of birds and animals. The famous ships all over the world and Sudochye Lake, where pink flamingos inhabit large flocks.

NUKUS-USTURT PLATEAU- BARSA KELMES-SUDOCHIE LAKE-ARAL SEA (400 km, 5-6 hrs)

Departure from Nukus at 08:00 in the morning to discover the Ustyurt Plateau and Aral Sea life. On the way we pass Khojeyli and Kungrad districts, which were the Trading centers during the Silk Road period.  On the way we pass the Soda Plant and Uzbekistan-Korea Gas Chemical Plant. Arrive at Barsakelmes Natural Saltpit, its huge salt lake, where the Soda Plant taking its main resource. Then we continue to Sudochie lake. Upon arrival at the lake we stop at the ancient Light House hill.  Then you can visit the abandoned settlement of the Russian and Polish people who were repressed during the Stalin regimen. You can see the ruins of the hospital, cane houses and old Fish Factory. As well you can talk with fishermen, who currently do the fishing and observe the different kinds of birds. Lunch en route (lunch box). Drive to Aral Sea yurt camp. Arrive to the yurt camp side late in the evening. Dinner under the open sky.

OVERNIGHT AT THE YURT CAMP

ARAL SEA

Early wake up to take pictures of sun rise. Have breakfast. Visit the ancient fortress “Kurgancha kala” XIII c.  Free walk. Hiking. Drive 60 km further along the edge of Ustyurt Plateau, visit ancient cemetery of Nomads, Former USSR Army base camp, take pictures of the beautiful Canyons and collapsed lands.  Have a walk on the sea shore and take a swim. The mud is very helpful for the leg and the sea water is for the skin. Have lunch and dinner at the Yurt camp.

OVERNIGHT AT THE YURT CAMP

ARAL SEA-MOYNAK-MIZDAHAN-GYAUR KALA-NUKUS (390 km, 5-6 hrs)

Breakfast. Departure to Moinak. On the way we stop at the cemetery of Nomads, visit the settlement “Kubla Ustyurt” on the Plateau. Meet the local population. Drive on the abandoned airport plane way. Then continue our way via the bottom of the dried Aral sea. Arrive in Moynak town. Lunch at the Guest house. Visit the cemetery of Ships, local museum and watch the short documentary film about Moinak life in the past. Drive back to Nukus.  On the way stop at the architectural complex of the XIV c “Mizdakhan” and Gaur Kala ruin VI-IV B.C.

  • Equipment: tents (yurts), sleeping bags, kitchen accessories, etc.
  • Recommendations to clothes: the protected or sports shoes for campaigns, trousers, a headdress, a warm jacket. During an autumn and early spring season warm clothes, the warmed jacket is necessary.

 

NOTE:

  1. For booking a tour is important to provide a copy of passports and airline tickets of tourists.
  2. Cancellation of the tour ordered more than 3 months before the arrival date: 2 months before - without penalty, 1.5 months before - 30% of the tour cost, 30 days before - 50% of the tour cost, a week before -100% of the tour cost. In case of ordering a tour in less than 30 calendar days, an advance payment of 100% is required and non-refundable.
