Kyzyl-Kala fortress

The monument was discovered during the Khorezm Expedition in 1938, conducted under the guidance of the archeologist SP Tolstov . During excavation of the basement and remnants of buildings, it was discovered that the fortress was surrounded by a double fortress wall, watchtowers were located at the corners of the fortress , based on which it can be assumed that the building was square in shape . In the middle was the temple of fireworshipers, where the Zoroastrian priests conducted their rites.

Kyzyl-Kala is a unique architectural monument of the Ancient Khorezm of the Kushan-Afrihid period of ancient history. It stands in the middle of the plain, like a lighthouse guarding the pearl of Ancient Khorezm - Toprak- Kalafortress . Legend has it that Toprak- Kala and Kyzyl-Kala connects the ancient underground passage. It existed until the invasion of Chingizkhan , entering the system of fortifications of the state of Khorezmshahs.
